hey all

as i have gone very far to get all the ports open i only could do it for 1 pc. because me and my dad are on the same public ip adress only 1 ip adress could be entered. This is of course very stupid since i always gotta chance the ip address to mine and back again.

i'm just wondering: is there a solution for this. Port forwarding doesen't help a bit. Just fill all ports in and nothing happens. The lastest thing i would do is buy a new router so port forwarding might work but for now i could use some help.

What problem are you trying to solve? Your description is a little confusing to follow, but if you can post what the issue is you are having (online gaming, torrents etc) we can then suggest a solution.

me and my dad play a game that requires to open some ports. But we can't open the ports cuz our router is just a rot piece of trash and my dad won't beleave me. So we use DMZ as last solution to open all ports. But the problem is only 1 can play the game at the time. Meaning to play both at same time. But its not possible with DMZ cuz we have some public ip at leats i think it is why..

What make and model is the router?
Are your PCs on static IP addresses? (or DHCP?)
What is the game you are trying to play?
Does your router have a modem built in, or is there more equipment in the LAN? (i.e. list everything attached to the LAN please).

Regardless of router maker/model you have to realise that most cheap domestic routers (cheap being anything that is not commercial/enterprise grade) will only have one PC in the DMZ, and most will only have ways to port forward to single IP address.

Unless you get a router that can actually "understand" what your PCs are doing, I doubt you will find anything for home use that will actually manage a single port to multiple PCs, etc.

Most games won't need incoming connections unless you are running as a server - and ideally you wouldn't have two servers on the same network I presume. Most torrent software will allow you to select your own port, thus eliminating this problem.
