Hi,

I have a detached garage, WiFi does not reach from my house.

I already have CAT6 running from my house to the garage.

In my home I have a Netcomm NF4V and a Cambium cnPilot e400 which is great for the house but the garage is clad in corrugate so I don't see any point trying to extend it further.

Can you please suggest me something simple, the area is only 36m2 and it only needs a few devices connected.

I found lots of threads about the best AP's for wifi coverage and remote management etc but for my current purpose I just want the simplest / cheapest option - I don't mind using a standard wireless router if it can be used just as an AP.

Thanks

Mixing your AP's will make for a terrible experience.

Since you've already got one Cambium why not replace the other 2 also so you've got proper wireless handoff etc? I bet there are people on here with e400's available, just ask in the offers and wanted thread.

e400s are being replaced with 4x4 options a fair bit right now, you should be able to pickup a few more.

personally in both my garages i've stuck an e400 and just lowered the power on it.

Thanks guys,

I only run WiFi from the e400, the NF4V is only for fiber so it would make sense to get another e400.

I see Go WiFi have stopped selling them. Can you suggest a price I should look at second hand, there are none on trademe.

cambium EOL.

E410 is the current model.

E425 might be an option in a garage too if your buying new..

I think a brand new Cambium is overkill for this purpose.
All I really want is WiFi to control Sonos.

If anyone has an e400 they are looking to get rid of I would be interested, but otherwise I think I will have to risk mixing access points.

I very much doubt it will be terrible. It's a detached garage so likely to have little or no signal already. It's not like using mixed AP's within a house.

OP basically said existing Wi-Fi did not reach there in his initial post.

and thats the point Handle9 was trying to make, in retute to Michael's comments "so you've got proper wireless handoff" and being a "terrible experience"

Just to update here. I went with the HG659 solution as it was the quickest option. It was very simple and I have had it running for a few days with no issues.

Thanks!
