For about the last 3 days my sisters laptop has had an issue where all the internet and everything working over wireless stops, occaisionally it works. I have tryed re-installing the wireless driver and fidled with the ip settings but nothing seems to work. It works for about 5 minutes after it has been repaired but then it will stop working.

Any ideas?

Have you tried changing the wireless channel on the router? Also, you could try unplugging a video sender if you have one as they can cause interference and also a 2.4 GHz cordless phone could be interferring. I had a 2.4 GHz one which had wifi freindly written all over it but it wasn't. Trying to unplug the neighbours cordless phone is tricky though!

I wil give changing the wireless channel, but why would that change it? we have 6 other laptops conecting (an identical tablet, dell, hp, toshiba x2, sony) all of which work fine and im on the dell now.

We dont have ny video senders.

We have a cordless phone but it is 1.8ghz becaue of our concrete brick house and because of the wireless.

None of the neighbours cordless phones I dont think reach here.

The joy of interference - We had a similar problem, is the machine with the problem in the same location as the other machines?

I discovered that it really was a problem with the channel when I logged into the wireless access point and discovered in the logs a lot of dropping off and reconnecting. Like you - this was only for one particular machine, all the other wireless devices had no problem.

Since blocking the channel out on the wireless router, we've not had any more problems.

I have changed it to channel 3 from channel 11 so I will see if that changes anything.
