Hi I am Jason and you might remember me from such threads as I cannot afford 10 gigabit and and why does my cable not have an rj 45 connection on the end.

The board that I am using for my unraid server has a 2.5 Gigabit port in it and I have been having a bit of a look around for some switches that don't also contain 10gig ports.

Anybody know of any base switches for 2.5 gig that are not costing an arm and a leg.

NBaseT is really hard to find in a switch... cards to do it are crazy cheap now... Just need the vendors to actually support it.

Netgear have offered a few nice models, still very much premium (where it's almost better to go with 10G!)

Why stop at 2.5 go 5g!

I still say chorus should fund a vendor to get in there. Would sell hyperfibre!

So what happened?

From your 10G thread it appeared you had brought all the 10G gear, did it get repossessed? Or did you sell it to build that UNRaid rig?  🤣🤣

Hahah yeah you are pretty much spot on apart from funding the unraid rig. I did get mostly everything together but then it was going to become to much of a hassle with the wiring. 2.5 gig would be plug and play pretty much, usb-c adapter for the macbook and cheap cards for the other pc's made more sense to go this route at this stage.
