I wasn't sure if it is locked to VFNZ in some shape or form

Also how have people found the 802.11AC performance on it?

I tried a VFNZ Ultra Hub with the intentions of hooking up to Orcon fibre a few months back.

I was interested in better WiFi performance than with my HG659.

I did not get very far.

As I recall, I could not change or edit much so I shelved it for now.

I tried to find firmware update options without success.

My first ever AM radio network connection was with a 1MHz AM crystal(OA91) radio receiver.

TQ for the reply

Likewise , the VFNZ Ultra hub is readily available at low cost and it seemed a costed effective to get a router that had 802.11AC (as mine did not) but I would presumably reqire to change the settings to allow it to work on another ISP e.g. VLAN 10

I didn't want to get one to find it is locked down. I think there maybe firmware out there, do you still have yours?

I took a bit more care tonight with my VF Ultra Hub... all is functionung well.

I bought mine on Trademe for $25 which included shipping.

I am with Orcon Gigantic Fibre using IPoE and VLan 10.

I was able to set up everything I required after a reset and all my new settings have been retained.

Edit: I did not change the F/W that came with the hub....

Thank you for going to to the effort of trying yours and the shots

My ISP (Stuff-Fibre) doesn't use PPoE just automatic IP i.e. no userid and password

Does the VF UH support that option?

802.11AC performance looks better than 802.11n!

My tests with my VF UH were on Orcon Fibre using IPoE and VLan 10 (no userID or PW required) which I think is what is called AutomaticIP.

I did try PPPoE when I got User ID and PW from Orcon, but Orcon only supports IPv4 with PPPoE.

I didn't try any 802.11n tests, but I think my Sony Bravia TV uses this and we have been watching Netflix ok.

Good to see Orcon providing IPv6 one of the reasons I went with Stuff-Fibre but who do Orcon use for transit?

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

I am not that techo... transit?... to overseas?

I couldn't find transit mentioned in your link.

I did find some transit info here:

http://he.com/ip_transit.html

Orcon IPv6 just works and is useful for my tests.

My IPv6 speed tests to overseas servers is quite variable.

Some speed test servers show IPv6 5x faster than IPv4 and other servers IPv6 speed is very poor.
