Hello

What free tools can people recommend so I can easily workout which device is using upload bandwidth on our LAN

Our Asus router showed 2GB upload today in a short period but doesn't allow any more detail to be seen

I've checked for torrent seeding, cloud drive syncing etc but its not obvious

does your router support SNMP ?

There are a billion tools out there to do it if it does

Does the router itself have any onboard tools which can tell you which IP addresses are using bandwidth either right now, or over time?

Good point, the router is a RT-AC58U and it does not appear to support snmp

No it does not show bandwidth by ip address use just what time and which network i.e. wired SSID (The traffic occurred on 2.4)  what I've done is to change all devices to the 5G network and left our son's laptop on 2.4 rule his out i.e. use a crude process of elimination

Does the router have bandwidth limiting , perhaps under parental controls ?
A daily limit might be a crude way of stopping excessive uploads , if you cant track down the cause .

No unfortunately not, the router does allowed rate limiting per client but not volume caps

andrewNZ: Glasswire?

TQ for that. Glasswire appears client based so I would require to install on each client and one of the devices in question is a MAC and Glasswire appears to only support Windows and Android. That said Glasswire looks like a good product so I may try on my Win machine

Maybe change the upload speed in the torrent program to something like 5kbps?

I use Process Hacker.

Edit: misread your post thought it said "which process", not which device.  However it's still a good tool.
