Hey guys,

Putting in a new HikVision system for a client. They have an older Dahua PTZ they wouldn't mind reconnecting - all good, if only it didn't have borked firmware.

I suspect this may have been a parallel import/dodgy fimrware jobby. But it is at least online, just web interface is all screwy and a few functions aren't working from the current Dahua NVR, like the IR settings haha.

Who do you talk to about legit firmware, and can they check something like the serial?

Thanks!

CDL are the only distributor on my list that I can see deal with Dahua.  I have no idea of they have a service dept, as we typically only use CDL for non-serviceable items.

'smarttechnouse' on Trademe say they do Dahua cameras with firmware that can be updated, so I assume they are legit (I asked them questions on Trademe, but haven'et yet brought from them).

They also list an email address of sales@smarttechhouse.co.nz

Viewtech, SWL or Alliance Wholesale

Just be aware if it was a hacked camera (ie a Chinese camera that was hacked with English hacked firmware when it was sold, and then subsequently borked by somebody trying to upgrade the firmware) it possibly can't be fixed, and a legit dealer certainly won't be able to help you. There are ways around this including building your own hacked firmware but this requires the knowledge to do it.

Cheers guys!

And yea @sbiddle, I suspect the fix for this will be swapping it out for a Hik PTZ that actually works. Have no interest in trying to support a hacked camera, so if its a quick fix cool. If not, swap it out.

Just wondering what HikVision system you are implementing as I am in the process of reviewing my mixed aged collection of dahua gear which is up for replacement.

have you checked the dahua site for current firmware - or is it too old to be listed : https://www.dahuasecurity.com/support/downloadCenter/firmware?id=111

If it's a "hacked" device (as in Chinese hardware that's been hacked with customised firmware to create English menus) then loading genuine English firmware will often not work as it won't pass the hwid check. If it does pass it'll often brick the device, or can turn the whole GUI back to Chinese.

Missed this sorry @Yoban.

It's a fairly straight-forward set up. Just taking a handful of distributed NVR's (one full analogue, and a couple IP) and bring them back to a central one to make management easy.

32-Channel NVR

A bunch of these turret cams (actually a mix of 2.8 and 4mm lens') and a bunch of these bullets for the long shots.
