Hi team

Im going to share my broadband with next door...
I need a router which can do the following, log traffic on the port  and limit the port to say 2 mb/sec. The twisted pair run is going to be around 40 - 50 meters.
Asus RX3041 looks an inexpensive option.
Im not interesed in  running pc based routers such as smoothwall or freesco..
Ideas?
thanks

First of all that first statement might get this thread locked. It's likely doing this will breach ISP T&C or similar, which doesnt tend to go down well on GZ.

Second of all a smoothwall type box is the best way to do this but since you don't want to, i'd look into DD-WRT or similar custom firmware for something like a WRT-54GL, as this custom firmware has plenty of options. Not sure about per port monitoring though.

Lastly you'll either need to do a bit of tweaking of security or be okay with the fact that your neighbours will have access to your shares etc.
