I currently have a rather small Hard Drive on my laptop computer and am wondering about getting an External Hardrive that connects to my router and then I can acess it wirelessly from my wireless connection.
And also am looking at printers to connect wirelessly as well but have no idea about that sort of thing.
Does anyone have any ideas or anything on this? I probably dont want any more than 500GB.

Hi Sammm, welcome to GZ, you need a NAS there are plenty on the market, this product list on Ascents website shows whats available. I can recommend the Synology Disk Station, which reviewed very well in a recent Aussie PC mag review of NAS's. D-Link and Linksys models did not fair so well in the same price bracket. The Synology has a built in Apache Web server as well as normal file storage, it also will do all you iTunes serving etc along with supporting a USB printer.

Slightly cheaper options are the Qnap TS-101 and Thecus N1200, the Qnap has a good reputation, dont know much about the THecus.

Dont forget that most/all of these dont come with a disc so you need to add a Sata drive with 250Gig starting around $100 and 500Gig around $140, these drives are pretty easy to install, your jack russel could do it between chop bones.

Oh and Ascent are a good supplier.

I'm quite keen on getting

The Drobo. It is a hard drive bay, you put in up to 4 hard drives and if a hard drive fails it is backed up by the others. This is works on all operating systems and has an unlimited capacity. You can also buy the Drobo Share addon which lets you backup over the network.

I don't think you can find these easily in NZ and sure they are quite expensive but you have to decide how much your data is worth. I'm sure most of your photos aren't replacable. There is a great review here.
