I am trying to share my iPAQ 3615's WiFi connection to the internet with my laptop running Windows XP SP1 using a BT connection (Belkin USB dongle). (This is the reverse of the usual situation - I want to use my iPAQ's T-Mobile Hotspot subscription for my Laptop as well).

I have paired the two devices, and the laptop seems to think it is connected to the iPAQ, however that is as far as I get. When I check the connection from the laptop side, it states that "LAN or High Speed Internet Enabled", DHCP is used but the IP address is always 0.0.0.0.

The Bluetooth software provides the capabilities, but the Pocket PC does not include any routing solution. Currently neither the OS provides it nor a third party solution is available.

I was afraid that this may be the case...

Can my laptop use the iPAQ GSM/GPRS capability instead? I expect this is a more "normal" approach.

Yes, sharing the GPRS is possible, check this guide for instructions.

There's a problem though with current Bluetooth Widcomm software in all Pocket PC Phone Edition devices. It seems the Bluetooth disconnects after a few KB are transferred. I've got an e-mail from Widcomm/Broadcom saying that HP has a patch for this, and should be released some time in the future.
