Hi all, need a bit of help with a weird issue.

I have a supplied router as in the thread title, and it is working fine on FibreMax, good speeds, no trouble with downloads or most uploads.

Thing is that I do a bit of amateur internet djing, and when I am streaming music up the listeners are hearing little stutters ever minute or so. Like tiny pauses. I am using ethernet connection, not wireless to stream.

Nothing on my end shows any drops. I hear them too when listening on my phone over my phone data plan (different provider).

I have tried swapping back in an old router I had lying around, and the stuttering stops, but that is an old N600 so not really even supposed to work with high speed.

So I am thinking it is possibly a problem with a setting inside the router or maybe the ethernet cable?

This is the only issue I am having with the connection.

I'm getting some new cable today to see if that helps.

Complete novice with networks except for the basics, but I can navigate around in the router and follow instructions. If its a check box that needs to be ticked, would appreciate some insight.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hey Sian,

I had a look through our ticketing system and can't see any similar issues from customers.

How old is the router? If you've had it quite a while, it may be worth giving our team a call on Monday (Just as I know that's when the right people will be working) and ask them to check your modem is running the latest firmware, we normally try push out updates on a regular basis so it should be, but if its somehow been missed it may not be running the latest firmware with bug fixes applied.

If that doesn't resolve your issue, please raise a ticket with the support team and let me know once you've done it and I can follow it up internally.

Have a good weekend!

Tane

Thanks Tane, is a new one, just arrived yesterday.

Is ok though, have tried streaming on wireless, with no problems, and installing my streaming software on second computer with a different ethernet cable is giving no drops, so it appears the cable was the issue. New cable and no more problems.

Thanks again, appreciate the reply. :)
