Hi all,

I have a Fibre internet connection through Myrepublic with their standard Hub (Technicolor MediaAccess TG789MYRvac v2 HP) connected to the ONT.

I am wanting to use my TP-Link Archer C7 (running DD-WRT) as the main access point for wired and wireless devices.

What settings do I need to set on both the ISP modem and the TP-Link router so that the ISP Modem’s only role is to serve internet connection and have the TP-Link router handle DHCP and everything else?

Thanks in advance

You would bin the Technicolor MediaAccess TG789MYRvac. Then set WAN interface on TP-Link Archer C7 to IPoE (DHCP client).

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

Thanks for your reply,

So in my TP-Link, would that be under setup > basic setup > Wan setup?

I cannot see an option under Wan connection type with IPoE, would it be called something else?

It would probably be "DHCP" or "obtain ip address automatically"

Bingo! I had no idea you could use the ONT with a router alone. Thanks everyone for the help!

I'm running my R7000 with dd-wrt based FreshTomato with my Fibre Connection.

I keep the Orcon supplied unit with a default config in a box in case Orcon need to troubleshoot anything.

If you want to think about it like the old copper days, the ONT essentially is the "modem"
