I have RB3011 and a CRS226

Out of the blue, one of them has randomly started to beep, once an hour on the hour.

Just a single beep.

I've checked the logs, googled, checked temp and CPU loan etc, updated OS and firmware. All seem fine.

Can't find much on Dr Google. Router/switch working fine.

Has anyone else seen/heard this?

So the logs definitely aren't showing reboots occurring? Probably unlikely that it's reboots if the beeps have a regular interval though

Check if you have any scripts under System > Scripts too as they have the ability to trigger beeps

You could temporarily enable greater detail of logging to USB stick or similar.

Not rebooting, the up time is a few days. No scripts either :(

Dont know Microtik gear I'm afraid, but I'm wondering: Does it have a battery (for a clock?) and thats failed/failing and wants replacing.

First step is to work out which device is the problem. Block diagram shows they both have a beeper, so if nothing obvious in the logs, stand next to them at the time of the next beep. Once you know which device, increase the logging level to se what is happening at that time.

Is ROS up to date? There were vulnerabilities a few years back the could result in scripts being loaded without your knowledge.

Turns out it was the switch. I've flashed it a number of times and manually setup the configure without reloading a backup. Continues to beep

Calling it a day and just going to replace it.

Is that all that it's doing wrong? I'd consider just cutting the wire to the beeper.

And if you're dead-set on replacing it, I'll happily take it off your hands...
