My NAS has a blinking orange light. Initially, it was a blue blinking light (a google search told me it is the blink of death), however, after taking the drives out and doing a reset, the light is steady blue now but the orange light is blinking. Synology Assistant cant see the NAS on the network. Is my NAS dead or is there hope?

Crises averted. I did a type 2 reset and managed to get to the console. Drives need rebuilding but at least the data is safe for now. Will backup and rebuild.

I'm glad to hear that your crisis has been averted.

However, everybody needs an "off-site backup" plan.
If you have so much "stuff" that you need a NAS, your need for off-site backup is even more acute.

Ask yourself "if the place my NAS lives in burns down, how much trouble am I in?"

😬
