Anyone know of a friendly telephone wiring tech in Wellington?

I have friends residing in a two-storey house where they have recently had fibre installed (Chorus) and VOiP.  Due to various telephone handset configurations, they want to retain the internal wiring loop for this.

I tested their wall jacks (router to wall jack etc), and they appear to be dead.  I can only think that when Chorus cut the outside pole-to-house copper, they may have also severed the internal link in/on the house.

They would like a technician to ascertain if the internal circuit could be restored.

Ask your friends to speak to their RSP and request Integrated Wiring. They will send an order through to arrange for a Chorus tech to visit and take care of it, ie, connect the internal phone wiring to the ONT.

@quickymart ... I believe they did that and were sent a couple of "techs" from a well-known retail store to check their cordless phones.

Problem is with the size and layout of house the cordless signal from hand-set-to-base station is too great, whereas before VOiP all handsets were plugged into wall jacks.

I will advise them of your suggestion though, thanks for that.

As per @quickymart - they need integrated wiring. Pretty simple but it just feeds the original internal phone jacks from the ONT voice port. This should be Chorus tech staff (or contracter) not a 3rd party store.

Thanks, and yes agree.  I have guided them to their internet provider accordingly.

In my own home, I cut the outside copper on the incoming side myself as soon as I knew the Chorus guys were coming, and saved the internal loop for extensions that work fine 😁
