I'm using Belkin Bluetooth Dongle, and ipaq 3970.
i try to connect to network access, to access desktop computer files using Ipaq, but failed

i followed the instruction provided in this website, however it didn't work in my situation because:
there are 3 computers and all connected each other, 1 as a server which connect to internet directly, and 2 computers just clients.

when i tried to click the checkbox "Allow other user to connect through this computer internet connection" and click "OK" then the error message appears "internet connection sharing cannot be enabled, A LAN connection already configured with IP address that is required for automatic IP addressing"

so is there any solution to this problem? and one more thing is the file explorer can be used to browse the network? if not, what is the software to browse the network once connected.

thanks very much for help

COopa79, how is your network configured?

Do you have a router assigning IP addresses, or do you have manually set the addresses?

How many network cards do you have on this computer where you have the Belkin?

Simply put you'll have to set the card with 192.168.0.1 to another address, and then try the ICS again.

Am having similar problem with my network setup:

Computer no.1)

Connected to Internet through ADSL modem, having a WiFi card inside (IP 192.168.0.1). These two are bridged and ICS is enabled on the Internet connection.

Computer no.2)
WiFi card, connected to the first computer, using Internet that way.

However I want to use Internet via BT on my PocketPC through the second computer and I am getting the same error as you are.

Should I just try changing the default IP (the ICS one) address on the first computer? How do I go about that?

Thanks a lot

Hey, Trund... The ICS requires the receiving adapter to be 192.168.0.1... This is the address you have to have in the Bluetooth Network Adapter. If you have this on your wi-fi adapter, then a conflict will occur.

I'd suggest you to change the wi-fi card to another number, and change the Bluetooth Adapter to 192.168.0.1. Then do the ICS configuration.

Well, as you said ICS requires 192.168.0.1 that's why the WiFi of the first computer is set to it, so I can share the Internet connection through wireless.

Is there a way I can change it, still use the ICS on the internet connection on comp. 1 and then connect to this computer through WiFi card on Computer 2 and then connect to this WiFi card through my bluetooth device?

Thanks a lot

Ooops... I can't visualise what you are saying... Care to put in a couple of lines something like "Computer 1, nic (a), wi-fi (b)","Computer 2, wi-fi (c), bluetooth (d)"?

Sorry, here it comes:

Computer 1:
ADSL modem (a) - connects to internet
WiFi (b)

Computer 2:
WiFi (c)
Bluetooth dongle (d)
Belkin CF Bluetooth card (e)

So here's the deal - a) connects to internet and is bridged with b) so that any incoming traffic through wireless can be forwarded to Internet. This is arranged through ICS, so that b) has IP 192.168.0.1

On Computer 2, c) gets an address assigned by Computer 1, which is something of the form 192.168.0.xxx and I can access Internet through this computer. However I am interested in connecting e) to d) and then forwarding that traffic to c) and thus all the way through b) to a) and then to Internet.

So the problem is - if I set up an ICS with d) as a receiving device, it tries to get 192.168.0.1 again, but that address is already assigned to b), that's why it gives me an error. But as you said, the address of ICS receiving device has to be 192.168.0.1, that's why I don't know how to get around this.

Hope this is clear

In this case, the only way out would be another software to control the network. You can try Winroute, which will work as a router, in place of ICS.

It will add firewall and allow IPSEC forward, which ICS can't handle. You can download a trial version and see how it works for you.

I know it works ok with Bluetooth, and Bluetake even supplies a trial version on CD, for users who do not want ICS or have Win98.

Thanks for your help, I have finally managed to get it running with WinRoute.

However I have experienced another problem, which seems much more serious - I am trying to use my PDA to connect simulatenously to internet via BT CF card and to a GPS receiver so I can use an interactive navigational solution right in my office.

However this seems to cause trouble, since Widcomm requires me to use a secure connection to use LAN access, thus I cannot use my GPS receiver in that case. Is there any way around this ,,secure connection" requirement? Are there any other packages available?

Thanks a lot, you've really helped me
