I use WIDCOMM Bluetooth software 3.0.1.906 and when I setup Bluetooth serial port it shows as COM12. Now I need to set the same port in ActiveSync but cannot. It only shows COM1-3 and Infrared Port. Supposedly ActiveSync supports only COM1-9.

I displayed the ports via device manager and it shows COM1,COM2,COM12,LPT1.
I used the 'show hidden devices' option and no additional ports were shown. So now I am at a loss. Why does Widcomm start from 12 - does it always start from 12 or does it really think the other ports on my pc are in use? Where does it go to check that - even the device manager does not know the ports are in use - the registry? There must be some way in Win2K of deleting the com ports 3-11. I just have no idea where this stuff is stored. Help!!!!

Yes, as I said in the previous post, I turned on the show hidden devices option in device manager and yes, I did set the DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1 before I started devmgmt.msc. Other hidden devices were displayed, but only COM1, COM2, COM12 and LPT1 under the ports group. In other words, as far as device manager is concerned, com ports COM3-COM11 do not exist. Then why does the bluetooth software start from COM12?
Could there be some kind of last port used entry in the registry?
