Hi,
I’ve recently switch to 2degrees fibre from OneNZ fibre and I’m having trouble getting connected to the internet.
I understand that 2degrees requires VLAN tagging, which my TP-Link Deco M9 Plus does not support.
I read that installing a managed switch between the ONT and the Deco could solve this by the switch tagging traffic from the ONT and untagging it to the Deco.
I’ve purchased a TP-Link TL-SG105E Easy Smart Switch and followed these step-by-step instructions provided by ChatGPT to do the configuration using the TP-Link Easy Smart Configuration Utility
1. Update the firmware on the switch
2. Enable VLAN
3. Create VLAN 10 (for 2degrees fibre)
4. Assign port 1 as tagged (for the ONT)
5. Assign port 2 as untagged (for the Deco)
6. Configure the PVID for both ports 1 and 2 to 10
7. Connected the ONT in to port 1 and the port 2 out to the Deco
8. Ensured the Deco has the following settings (as advised by 2degrees)
· WAN Connection Type: DHCP (Automatic IP/Dynamic IP/IP over Ethernet)
· 802.1P (Priority): 0
· IP Version: IPv4 or IPv6
· MTU Size: 1492 or 1500
· NAT: Enabled
With the following being managed by the switch
· 802.1Q: Enabled
· VLAN ID (802.1Q): 10
9. Turned everything on in the sequence: ONT – Switch – Deco
I’ve checked and reset the above three times and still no inert connection.
The lights on the ONT look ok. The port lights on the switch show there is activity. The Deco Wi-Fi works – just no internet connection.
Can anyone see what I’m doing wrong or missing to fix this?
Thanks Aaron
