I would like to power a POE switch remotely over 20-30m. I'm hoping to power an AP and 1-2 cameras.

Has anyone used these POE splitters longterm to power a switch or similar?

Any recommendations on a better way to do this?

I'm pretty sure you can buy PoE switches that both receive and re-send PoE. Can't remember what they're called, though...

Ubiquiti make some. The USW-Flex and switch ultra can be powered by poe and can send poe.

I have a fair few of the Unifi Flex Switches out in the Wild doing exactly what your asking it to do.

Have been testing one of the GPERX4's for a bit now and its working well!

I use the 4 port version of these https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005392724823.html

The oldest has been installed for eight years without any issues.

EDIT: I paid $US25 for one of these about 18 months ago, so ignore the price and find another seller.

Thanks acsylaa! I hadn't seen the GPeRx4. I'll have a better look at it's specs.

I had seen the Unifi flex but would like POE AT power for my AP.

I hadn't noticed you wanted this for an AP as well as cameras, so you probably want a gigabit version specifically.

I installed one of these in my neighbour's house in 2019 to power two UniFi APs, one of the aforementioned extenders and a few cameras.

Again, no issues, although my PoE tester flicks between different PoE wiring standards. I've not found those cheap testers to be particularly reliable however.
