Im looking at running CAT6 through the house and will likely need a couple of rolls

Available brands seem to be
8Ware
D-Link
4Cabling
Dynamix

The first 3 can be found for about $220-$250 and Dynamix seems to be about $280.
Are they all pretty much the same or should I stick with Dynamix.

thanks

IMO it's all much the same and in a home, you're not going to notice any real difference. Your bigger impact will come from getting quality terminations.

Are you buying this yourself? if so, you can get a roll of Dynamix for $256 retail, if you know someone with a PBTech or CDL account it's cheaper again.

Try to grab cat6a instead if the difference is not eye watering, let’s you do 10G in the future (whenever that may be).

I have not had dynamix fail on me like some others have with the jacket going brittle and the cores coming out.

For the amount of hassle putting cable in is, and that its only $30 cheaper I wouldnt be shopping around to save that little.

Cat 6 goes 10G fine in spec over normal distances, and is less of a pain to work with.

even cat5e will do 10 gig even tho its out of spec.

I dont think I have any runs over 50m so CAT6 should suffice for 10G.
thanks @richms - good point about them going brittle.

Im planning on putting in PoE security cameras.
Is it better to do a straight run/connection or terminate to outlet and use patch lead to camera.

Agree with Cat6 - its good for 10gig up to about 60 metres

Security cameras - just terminate the cable with an RJ45 plug and plug it directly into the camera and that way the cable is concealed by the camera mount.

Also double check the price difference is not due to stranded vs solid core cable.
Stranded is for patch cables only, solid is for structured cabling.
