Hey all,

Sorry this has been done to death, but i've been going through the previous threads and people have different setups/answers. I have ONT Box in my garage next to 5 Cat5 cables that run to various rooms in the house. Would my setup be as follows?

ONT BOX -> Router configured to ISP -> Switch connected to Router LAN1 -> Cat5 cables fed into Switch?

Alternatively, would i just Run ONT -> Router -> Cat5 if the router in garage has enough LAN points to replace the switch?

Current gear is Asus RT-AC86U, so guessing i shove that in the garage and then i just need a wireless access point at the end of the setup on a central room?

Thanks for the help!

Sounds fine to me.

The router has 4 LAN ports.  So for a sub-optimal setup (one cable not live) , you could dispense with the switch, and plug four of the Cat5 cables going to the various rooms directly into the router LAN1-LAN4.
