Hey guys.

I have recently purchased a nokia 6230 and i was trying to connect it to my laptop with bluetooth. I have an acer travelmate 4000 that has built in bluetooth and i was just wondering if anyone has managed to connect their 6230 to their computer becasue i cant see to get it to work. If i couldnt get it to work i was looking at buying one of the bluetooth cordless keyboard and mouse packs from either logitech or microsoft but which one would support the 6230. Does anyone have any software or anything that will connect the 6230 to a laptop. I dont really know much about bluetooth at this stage but i know my laptop has something to do with WIDCOMM and i think its 1.3. Any ideas would be great

Thanks
Andrew

I know it may not be the answer you are expecting, but the Nokia 6230 has some problems with its Bluetooth implentation...

Yes i think your right. Today i tried connecting to my mates mobile using bluetooth. He managed to send me a song that was about 6mb, only took about 3 or 4 mins to transmit but then i couldnt find where the song was saved onto my phone. It comes up and says do u want to connect to this person when they try to establish a connection then after that nothing shows up again. Its like that the song he sent via bluetooth just disapeared into thin air. lol

Hi,

You say nothing about using or not Nokia PC Suite. I´m not sure, but you´re likely to use this to set the connection, at least, after installing, read the HELP to see how to establish the connection via bluetooth. Remember, you can also set a faster connection using a USB cable from Nokia (model DKU-2).

Also look at the link below on this forum:

yeah. i was using the nokia program to connect. I even got the updated the version. Im pretty sure its something to do with the actual bluetooth software or whatever my computer actually uses with its built in bluetooth hardware, the stack i think its called. Is this stack, something u can download or update?

Forgot to talk about the file saved on your phone...

Assuming that it was really saved (you must have paired the devices and have space for the file), it could only be saved either on internal memory or on the MMC card.

Both memories come with some folders by default, such as: video;audio;ringtones, etc...

Did you look up inside all of them?

Yes, I think it should be something concerning your laptop bluetooth implementation...

See below, the requirements asked for PC SUITE version 6.4.8 (the one I use):

For access from the PC to devices that use Bluetooth wireless technology, your PC needs Bluetooth wireless technology equipment with one of the following Bluetooth stacks:

1 - Digianswer Bluetooth Software Suite

2 - Microsoft Windows XP Bluetooth

3 - WIDCOMM Bluetooth for Windows (BTW 1.4.x, BTW 3.xxx)

4 - Toshiba Bluetooth Stack for Windows XP/2000

You should try to upgrade, either your currently bluetooth drivers on the laptop or, if it is not possible, consider to buy another bluetooth adapter or use the USB cable.

You have to check Acer's website for a new Bluetooth software. You can't use the software from another hardware on your laptop.

Ive done that. And the website doesnt even have anything to do with bluetooth. THey have a list of all the firmware updates like WLAN, audio etc but not bluetooth. Its using WIDCOMM atm but its not the up to date version.
