I have a MSi BT key that acourding to its specification its working range is 100m.
I have the TDK BT Bluepaq sleev for the ipaq which acourding to specification the working range is 10 m. And I have the nokia 6310 which has built in BT.

The actual range that the ipaq works with the PC (bluepaq with MSI key) is only 3 m (direct contact no walls ).
The actual range that the ipaq works with the nokia is even less, like 2 m.

Is there a way to measure what is the actual working range of each equipment?
I am trying to find out which one is the limiting BT (even though I susspect the Bluepaq).

Thanks Rami,

The phone is the limiting unit for the Bluepaq, and my guess is the Bluepaq is for the MSI BT. I have a 3970 and a 5455 both of them will go 30 plus feet through my home, and several rooms, with 802.11b running as well. to connect to a Belkin FT8001 USB Bluetooth adapter.

If you can locate a copy of the billionton software for Win CE, it may allow you to select the power level of the Bluepaq. Well it actually does it automatically, you can't select it. I know it does this on the Belkin CF bluetooth adapter. Or you get the newest version from TDK.

The latest I know of is this file is now available on this URL, since it was removed from Billionton's website.

Mauricio, thanks. I was looking for that software. This is the widcomm BTW- CE is that right?

David, I all most certain that the Bluepaq is he limiter. I take my PC with the MSI key attached to it as a reference. The Bluepaq hold the connection to the PC up to 5 m .
The Nokia cell phone hold the connection to the PC up to 10 m and cross walls.

To use this software do I need to remove the Bluepaq drivers? The Bluepaq does not come with a software to install. It loads the drivers and the software when inserting the sleev.

Thanks
Rami.

Yes, it is the BTW-CE. But I know it works on H3970 and H3870 with built-in Bluetooth. I'm not sure about other Bluetooth implementations.

You might want to make a backup of your PPC before applying this. If anything goes wrong, just do a hard reset and restore the backup.

Be sure to have all your data safe before doing this!

After download, check the size (4,877,344) and run Winzip to test the file. You should have this result:

I installed the software and tried to run it. I was asked to turn on the Radio. When I tried I recieved the following error message:
"The Bluethooth radio Failed to turn ON due to insufficient driver memory available. You must perform a normal reset before you can turn ON the bluetooth radio."

Additional soft reset didn't help. I tried to install the BTW_CE software before removing the bluepaq drivers and after removing them. In all cases it didn't work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Rami,
