Has anyone encountered any issues with the Sharp GX30 and a DSE Bluetooth dongle? A customer is having issues getting them to shake hands...

Cheers, any suggestions would be appreciated, i havent been able to have a go at fixing it myself

The GX30 only supports headset and carkit profiles doesn't it? If that's the case you'll only be able to pair it with a PC to use the PC as a headset and won't be able to use a DUN bluetooth profile or serial port.

Thanks for your reply, after some more inter-web browsing, that does seem to be the case... The best option for the customer to be able to get the photos off his phone would be an SD card reader... correct???

I've never actually tried to do that so can't can't answer that. I believe you can send pictures by IR so that could be another option, I played with the new Kodak Photo Kiosks about 6 months ago before they released them here (the new ones support IR and Bluetooth so you can print photos instantly from your phone) and believe somebody had printed some pictures from a GX30. Obviously they didn't use Bluetooth so must have either inserted the SD card into the unit or used IR.

The real issue is the Vodafone Live! customisation - The phone is designed by Sharp for Vodafone who essentially don't want to give you an easy way of getting data into or out of the phone without using an online service. There is actually an online petition I saw with people wanting Sharp to actually create a new firmware version without all the crippled functionality. It's an awesome phone, it's just a pity Vodafone seem to screw so many phones up with their Live! customisation.

If you want to send a picture via bluetooth or infra red, copy the file to the handset memory, and then goto Menu > My Stuff > Pictures > Your Picture and click Options > Send > Via Bluetooth/Infrared.

This worked on my phone - GX30i

Hope this helps :)

The GX30i has quite a few additional features the GX30 doesn't have including additional Bluetooth profiles.

Thanks for your replies, the customer has a GX 30 not a GX 30i. He is taking it back to the original seller to raise the issue with them.
