Hello,

We have a wireless router and a notebook with a wireless card, and after reinstalling the driver for this card the notebook can't acquire an IP address, and so it can't receive data over the network. Does anyone know how to get it to acquire an IP address?

Thanks,
Arachan.

Have you tried manually entering the ip settings into the network adapter?

EG if your routers ip address is 192.168.1.1

Set your ip address to say 192.168.1.10
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Default gateway (your routers ip address) 192.168.1.1

Yes, I have tried this, same thing. Connects, but doesn't receive anything.

Typically because passphrase/key entered is simply wrong, so you need to turn encryption off to test the theory.

i second the above poster
if you get the wrong wep key, it usually doesnt tell you if its wrong - just says connected and wont transfer any data over the wireless link.
i think wpa sometimes depending upon your client program will tell you if the code is wrong

also try remapping ur way, so try doing it right from scratch uninstall everything and install again, that might help.

if not id suggest some more information, like ur isp name and probably their settings not your username or password just the settings.
