Hey as the title says,

from my other topic we decided on free wifi with any purchase from the cafe,

so we need a program that can give us codes and let user use the wifi for say an hour or so,

any ideas would be great thanks!

btw: http://www.hotspotsystem.com/en/hotspot/free_hotspot.html ...its what we're looking at but would prefer something free :)

again thanks

I think you'd get better replies if continuing on that other discussion - people already know your thoughts and what you are trying to do...

Have a look on SourceForge.net - probably something there

I would stay with hotspotsystem.com . We've been using them for a while now and it's a very good system, extremely customizable, you can print your own vouchers, etc.

And "free" solution doesn't exist. If you need a free software for this, you need to run it and there is no support with that. It's just a hassle if there is a problem there is noone who can help you.

um free solution here: http://www.publicip.net/

You take a spare computer with two ethernet cards - common brand like realtek. One port plugs into your router, the other port into your wifi access point.

Download and burn the cd image to a cdr and put it into the spare pc and turn it on.

The computer boots up and runs a captive portal. It automatically downloads all the info it needs from your account at public ip. The only catch is that you must provide free wifi. You login to the public ip website to create your tickets. Although you dont need to give the tickets away for free - you can sell them with a purchased item.

Otherwise Antamedia Hotspot is also a good paid program although you may need a computer tech that knows a bit about mid level networkign such as DHCP, NAT and windows xp ICS to use the cheaper version because the support isnt very good - based in some european republic. Most motels I know of around here use the antamedia software that a local tech setup.

Your other option is to setup an access point and change the wep code daily which is another way some motels do it. You can use a firewall in a good router ap to control access only to the web port 80 to limit the use of p2p.
