Have you changed the default accessibility configuration to restrict access to only paired devices or no devices? Perhaps you're blocking too much.

Thanks Freitasm you seem to be helping me alot.
But i have accessibility set just as you say but the pairing request is always rejected by the device.
I am gaining ground now though and even without pairing i can make a Network connection now which i havent been able to do before.
I still carnt share my internet connection though. I have manually configured XP on the server just by right clicking my local area connection selecting the advance tab and ticking allow other network user to connect through this computers internet connection. Is this right Freitasm?I also have Local are connection 2 which is the bt lan driver . Do i need to set this up at all? This Driver is a Widcomm, Inc 1.2.1.20. Is there a better 1.Both have the TCP/IP set up to obtain a ip address automatically.
Sorry about all the questions im struggling to make sence of the guides.
Thanks
Steve

Steve, let me see if I can help any. One computer needs to be the master. This is the computer that connects to the internet. You will set this computer up, like in the guides here, as if you where going to connect a PDA to it. So for this computer you'll need to enable ICS, or bridge your connection. With ICS this computers Bluetooth LAN will only have to values set. An IP address of 192.168.0.1 (this is the only one that works) and a Netmask of 255.255.255.0 adding any of values to the Bluetooth LAN will break ICS on this computer.

On your second computer you want to have it set up as you describe. "...Both have the TCP/IP set up to obtain a ip address automatically." Note ONLY the slave or second computer should be set up this way. With both set this way you do NOT have ICS running.

Hi
David so the sever needs to be setup not to obtain ip address automaticaly but to a IP address of 192.168.0.1 is this what your saying? If this is the case should the client be set at IP address of 192.168.0.2 rather than automatic.

I have read the H3970 ICS guide and dont have some of the features in my bluetooth soft for example Note the Configure Connection Sharing button: it'll open the configuration screens we've visited before. But some Bluetooth software will not have this button, hence I guided you through the other route I dont have this do i need it?

What i really dont understand is ok we have just set up with the guide ICS to use the network card that operates our modem but we have no bindings or anything with the bluetooth lan driver so hows it supposed to work.

Im lost with these bt devices but ill get their i just hope soon before the pending divorce and before the kids stop calling me dad lol.

Hi
Jst some info for you to look at to see if thing are as they sould be.My network card is setup to my ISP IP address and this has the ICS sharing box ticked in XP.My bluetooth device local area connection 2 hs the ip of 192.168.0.1 with the ICS shareing box unticked. Is this correct?
The above is for the server. The client has obtain ip auto is this correct? So i make the network connection from the client and start internet explorer it strts to detect proxy setting and then bombs out.
Looks like hammer time lol

Ok when you set up ICS on the server computer, you will use your NIC (that connects to the internet) or in your case the modem. I hope you are not using AOL, this is a whole another can of worms. You want to share the connection to the Internet. Not the Bluetooth device so only the Internet connection will have ICS checked. When you do this correctly ICS will change the values in the Bluetooth LAN to 192.168.0.1 and 255.255.255.0 Everything else in the Bluetooth LAN will be blank. If you stop and think about it, this may make sense to you. The Computer will not be using this connection to send anything to the internet, all it needs to know is a name (or in computer terms an IP address) of the card to listen to. Your server will tell the other computers how to talk to this card, that is why it makes the most sense to let the other computers use server assign addressing.

So..."David so the sever needs to be setup not to obtain IP address automatically but to a IP address of 192.168.0.1 is this what your saying?"

Yes.

"If this is the case should the client be set at IP address of 192.168.0.2 rather than automatic"?

No because the client's need more info than this, so it's easiest to let your server tell them all they need to know. The Client will also need to know about DNS, Gateway address, ect. This info is supplied by ICS which is a service run on your PC. If on your client you are not seeing this additional info filled in then, ICS is not working correctly, and you will not connect.

I think im starting to understand why i carnt connect.
Heres my ISP/Network card details that run my modem as reported by winipcfg
Ip 62.33.0.49
Sub255.255.225.128
Gate 62.31.0.1
DHCP 62.30.240.177

My bluetooth does indeed have
Ip 192.168.0.1
Sub 255.255.255.0

I there anything here which stops me connecting.

Thanks David for all your help
Steve

Double check your IP address and gateway address, on your modem. I think one or the other is wrong. Both I thing should be 62.33. or 62.31 not split like that. If they are indeed split like that. then that could be your problem. Your gateway is not reachable from your network card.

Is your internet connection a broadband connection, or a dial up connection?

As long as you do not have any other NICs using 192.168.0.xxx space, (in your server) it should work. AOL gives problems and will not work with ICS. I guess that other IPS could do the same thing, if they wanted to.

On your bluetooth card only those two values are list? every thing else on that page is blank, or checked as use the following, and blank.

David thanks again for persisting with my problem.
The Ip and gate are in the same range that was a typo sorry.
I am on broardband and my blutooth card has only those two items listed. So ive hit a brick wall m8.When i first undertook this iwas convinced i needed a second nic in the sever to talk to my modems nic but by know what left of my brain is mashed what do you think i have no other optin but to go full wifi which im sure i could setup.
Thanks Again

Steve, you say "...and even without pairing i can make a Network connection".

It can't be possible. You have to pair the devices before the Network connection is allowed. Have you passed this point? It doesn't seem like it from your previous post.

Even though you have the network adapters there, they'll not talk to each other until pairing is completed.

Hi fretasim
When i try to pair i get this message The paring request is rejected by the device! But i can get them to network no problem .I make the connection from the laptop and within second the network icon appears in the tray if you double click that it tells you that your connected and bytes received and sent ect.
But im still convinced that not been able to pair is my problem but no one seems to know why i carnt do this. What stores the pairing info is it the software or firmware can i load up some different firmware to see if that helps.
Im on the verge of disabling ISC and trying Winrouter lite does anyone have a guide for this soft.
Thankyou both for your continued support
Steve
