Hey guys,
looking at consolidating all my devices in the garage down to a single device. At the moment I'm running (for network):

- Linksys AM300 modem/router
- SPA3102 VOIP
- WAG54G
- 8 port fast ethernet linksys switch

Its all pretty complicated and parts of the setup are getting dodgy like the WAG and AM300.

Are there any devices that offer DSL2, vfx compatible VOIP and wireless (preferably 802.11n)? I'd assume that such a device would only have a 4 port switch and an 8 would be grea tto also cut out the switch but I can live without that (or even a single port rather than on board 4 port).

THe last thing is that I see Telecom are releasing VDSL2 later this year for wholesale? Would it simply be a matter of upgrading the firmware on the router or would I need to buy a new one?

I would recommend the Linksys WAG54GPv2. It has wireless, 2 phone ports, and DSL. The one I have at home is capable of ADSL2+ syncing. Initially the firmware in it is missing a few key features (like a DNS server for your local network) but once I signed up for VFX on Xnet I received a firmware upgrade from them that gave it all sorts of new goodies.

Oh, I forgot to say it only has 4 ethernet ports on it, but thats still not too bad.

No - this device has been superseded. Try the WAG310G.

Still not wireless N - but also has a WAN port, so you can plug in a VDSL or Fibre to home etc connection in future.

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their xDSL broadband network faster and even more now as they are upgrading their rural Conklins. If your still stuck on ADSL or VDSL, why not spend $195 on a master filter install to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?

it really is a shame Fritz! boxes aren't reaqdily available outside Europe. They are sbsolutely fantastic home hubs!

Had a look at the wag310g and it does look like quite a flexible unit. I like the idea of having both the DSL and WAN ports.

So when VDSL does come out (30th of September it says on the Telecom website), will Chorus install a special NTU at our house and terminate it with ethernet or is it just like DSL where we just install our own unit? If it is the latter, would it be likely Linksys release the next model of the WAG310G that supports VDSL be released any time soon?

VDSL requires a master filter - I would be surprised if anybody offers DIY install kits.
