I am trying to pair my Evere T909s Stereo Bluetooth headset to my HP 8530p EliteBook, both of which support the A2DP profile.

The laptop detects the headset and starts pairing, but then requires a driver that I don't have - can anyone recommend a a driver for Vista Business that may work?

This headset works fine with a iPhone (3.0 update) and other phones/PDAs, but I can't get it to work with my laptop which is frustrating as I can't see any technical reason it shouldn't.

Sorry, this is off-topic, but I found the Evere T909s for sale in a couple of places. How do they go? Are they any good?

Depends what you want them for. Great for listening to music, or taking calls with your mobile phone (including iPhone/iPod touch with 3.0 update) - but as I have found it's a bit hard to pair with a laptop running Vista.

My brother in law just bought one and is reasonably impressed with it. I had a short play with it and with my Win7 laptop it paired and installed the driver OK (however I couldn't get any audio out of it in the 5 minutes while it was here). Unfortunately he took off with it before I could sort out the driver out. I will try and get it back later in the week and see if I can get a driver vendor and version number for you. Cheers, Matt.

I have a feeling Windows 7 will have a lot fewer compatibility issues than Vista *shakes fist at Vista*.

Don't think so - at least A2DP. Windows Vista should recognise all A2DP headsets automatically (not sure why your is not - perhaps is not using the Microsoft Bluetooth software)?

With Windows 7 A2DP will require audio drivers. Not many headsets have these drivers today since current Bluetooth software don't need these drivers.

Just using the standard "Bluetooth Devices" programme. It recognises the headset, and even pairs (I think) but then it asks for a driver which I don't have - thus no audio comes through. Also it was interesting that it didn't ask for the pass key like it did when pairing with other devices.

I've tested them and they worked really well with a iPhone, Nokia 5800, Sony Ericsson w980i, and HTC Magic. So I figured it must be something to do with my laptop or Vista's A2DP profile - but the HP Elitebook 8530p is supposed to support this.

nokia e71 paired without an issue also. Win 7 seemed to set it as the default audio device and showed it as such in the volume controls but no audio from the headset. Will try again later in the week with the vista machine and win7 again. Good little headphones. Harvey Norman here in Pukekohe had about 10 pairs in stock. Noel Leeming had a couple of pairs too...

Hi Navin,

I got this going with Vista no problems. Using a standard bluetooth adaptor with Vista and microsoft bluetooth stack. The driver for the stereo audio came from microsoft update when I paired the headphones. It is stated as:

Driver Provider: CSR plc

Driver Date: 10/7/08

Driver Version 3.0.0.183

Digital signer: microsoft windows hardware compatibility publisher

Hopefully this helps. It might help to check that you have the microsoft bluetooth stack.
