I have a client who has a Xtra-supplied DSL-G604T TX running the Xtra V1 firmware. They are no longer with Xtra, and I was wondering if anyone has successfully upgraded the Xtra-supplied G604T_TX with the latest generic DLink G604T firmware. The router label shows this is hardware version A.

I spoke to DLink support and was given a noncommital "maybe", followed by a later (in the same conversation) "probably not" in response to my upgrade question. The "probably not" was qualified with a "you might experience problems" rider.

Not really the answer I was looking for.

I came across a small number of hits with Google, some claiming success, some not and one saying the hardware was slightly tweaked for the Xtra model and therefore firmware upgrade would not work and would brick the router. Not really anymore useful than DLink's response.

So, I'm hoping for some responses from those who have tried (whether success or failure).

Regards, Brendan
