Yep, what you have is good enough for what you want to do. Have a look on this article and you'll have an idea.

I still have to get the new iPaqs to write more Bluetooth Guides, but you'll be able to have it figured out by reading the current ones.

hi,

Thanks so much for your reply. I read the article and seems okay but never try it. My concern is my internet connection is through DSL and not a dial up, anything that I need to configure or any additional info that I need from my ISP???? Sorry but I dont know how to begin....

Thanks again

If you folllow the H5450 article on how to share the internet connection via Bluetooth you should be fine.

Also note that if you want to use the phone with the Ipaq for Internet/Email access you will need data service from your Wireless provider. Here in the US I use ATTWS and I get both voice and date through the T68i. I have done some simple experiments with connecting the phone to a PDA both with Ir and Bluetooth. It works like a charm and I can access some sites on the net. There are occasions that I cannot access a particular site but I suspect it has to do with the features of the PDA browser not the phone or Bluetooth connection.

When using the phone as your modem to connect to the Intetent you will most likely use the network of your cell phone provider not your DSL provider. There are phone companies that support using the phone to dial into other networks and if you need that capability I would check with your provider first.

ATT Wireless has a pretty comprehensive site on how to connect the phone and a PDA, including Palm devices. If you need a link let me know and I will post or send it to you.

Cheers
TC

Thanks, maybe you can share to me your simple experiment of how to connect from cell phone to pda using Ir or bluetooth. And maybe you could also send the link so that I can read more about it. That's more interesting compare to 5750 article, becuase this one right on the target--cell phone to pda. I have a T-Mobile service here but you know I'm willing to change plan incase I know how to work those two in ATTWS. Thanks again!!

Here is the link to the ATT site: http://support.attwireless.com/awswls/support/index.jsp

Look at the heading called Device Setup Tools. Follow the first link called Setup your Device and Computer/PDA. Be sure to answer yes to the Do you have an ATT GPRS Device question that comes up. This will link you to a page that has all the possible phone types. From there you select a phone model then it will lead you to another page with all the possible device types including Palm and PPC PDAs. Select a device, if you choose something like the Compaq 3975 it will take you to a page where you can select either Ir or Bluetooth.

My experiments were rather complicated because I was using a Handspring Visor which has an old Palm OS that doesn't support IO through the Ir port. I had to load a patch and then some third party software onto the PDA just to get it to talk to the phone via Ir. The Visor doesn't have Bluetooth so I couldn't do anything with that. I was able to have the phone dial the number for my GSM/GPRS account with ATT Wireless. Because my unit was older I was not totally successful in accessing any Web content. I did try my Wife's Palm m130 which has a newer OS and does support connection to a phone via Ir. I was able to surf a couple of web sites but I did run into problems with the Browser I was using on the Palm.

You may find that there are issues using Pocket Internet Explorer for general purpose web surfing since PIE does not support things like Java nor multiple windows (for those annoying pop-ups...:)) Some sites also look for the version of your web browser and PIE reports it is IE 4.0 or something like that. You can use a registry hack program to change this string to a more current IE version, like IE5.5. I don't have the specifics of how to do this but if you do a google search I am sure it will point you in the right direction.

I hope all this helps. If not let me know and I will do what I can to assist you.

Cheers
TC
