Hi guys,

I’ve been running my dLink thru xtra for a few years now, with a desktop (XPsp2), PDA and  a couple of laptops(XPsp2), wired and wireless!   Went to hard coded IPs (10.x.x.x) when I got couple of wireless cameras.

Have now got a Vodem, so enbled ICS (thru the connectoid- no VMC Lite) which has forced me back to dynamic IPs (but as I don’t use the cameras any longer, its no big thing)

Now I can’t connect to the dLink for admin purposes.  It use to be 10.1.1.1  but IE won’t take me there anymore.

Has ICS reset the IP address for the dLink? DNS issue?  ??

If you have enabled ICS on one of your PCs then the IP address for that PC will now be 192.168.0.1 and it will be a DHCP server as well giving out IP addresses in that range (192.168.0.2-254)
If you Dlink is 10.1.1.1 then you will need to set one of your machines to an IP in that range to be able to access it again.

to explain further, you must set your pc to 10.1.1.X to access another computer on the 10.1.1.x subnet - They are separated like telephone area codes

Cool. Thanks for the help Ray.

Can I then 'fix' the address on the router to something in the 192.168.0.x range? I assume it has to be a fixed address so I can find it again for admin purposes?

Yes you can change the DLink IP address to a 192.168.0.x address.
You will also need to disable DHCP on the DLink as you can only have one DHCP server on a network and the PC with ICS enabled will need to be that one.
Why do you still need the DLink? Are you using it for wireless access or are you still using ADSL & the vodem?

Yes you can use the admin website built into the dlink to change its ip settings. make sure you get the subnet correct too - below the ip address box.
