I am using a dell laptop with a bluetake GT400 headset. I have paired the devices and even have them as "connected" in the bluetooth menu under audio devices (the XP service pack2 software). But I can't get any program to "see" the headset as a possible audio device, so can't use it as a microphone or headset.

Has anyone any ideas how to make my computer "see" the headset?
Thanks

The Microsoft Bluetooth stack does not support the headset profile... You will have to use the original software supplied by the manufacturer - if it does support the headset profile that is.

I don't understand why it is under an "audio device" heading in the bluetooth devices list then.....

thanks for the info freitasm. I was planning on buying a new BT adapter that was compatible with microsoft bluetooth, because that's all my Nokia 6255 will talk to.

but - it doesn't support audio!! :-( that really bites since i do alot of listening to bluetooth audio..

so - this means i cannot sync a nokia 6255 AND listen to wireless audio without swapping drivers all the time.
Is there some magic trick to get windows to have 2 bluetooth adapters installed? one using the microsoft drivers, and the other using it's own? how do you configure which driver may claim which device?

(been a long time since i've used windows).

Your 6255 should be able to connect to other Bluetooth devices running the Widcomm software too Taniwha.

The 6255 can "connect" - no problem there. I'm transferring files here, there, and everywhere.

It's the nokia PC suite that wants "Microsoft bluetooth". It refuses to recognise anything else.

I've tried mapping a commport to the phone, but the commport part of nokia PD suite is looking for the dku-5 cable, and not just a simple serial connection to the phone.

so, gave up for now.. not sure it's worth losing bluetooth audio just to sync the phone.

sounds like bluetooth in windows is a real mess.
