Hi, mi name is Pablo. I've been trying to set up a little wlan for my thesis. I need my Desktop PC to work as a server, using IIS for running an ASP application on both, Windows XP Pro, and my Windows on my Dell Axim PDA. I would like it, if it also could share my internet connection, but the real important part, is just setting up my network so I can run ASP, the rest should be easier.

I've tried setting up Peer-to-peer connections, or just by giving each device an IP address, but I just can't share documents, and from my PDA, I can't visit the default IIS web page. If someone could help me, I would be very thankful.

Pablo, can you clear something please?

When you say "using IIS for running an ASP application on both, Windows XP Pro, and my Windows on my Dell Axim PDA." do you mean a set of .ASP scripts on the server on your Windows XP Pro, and accessing this from a browser on your computer and a browser on your Pocket PC, is that right?

Also " I just can't share documents, and from my PDA, I can't visit the default IIS web page." sounds like two different problems: one is sharing documents on a folder while the second is using a browser to open a page on the server. Is that right, are we talking about two problems?

Well, I've tried trough an Ad-HOC connection, and other stuff. Basically my thesis is about using a Wireless Connection, so I can take advantage of a PDA for managing inventory in a small 7-eleven or that kind of small business, and not having to use just a PDA, if my business required it, using any other kind of wireless device, more likely, it would be a Laptop or another PDA.

So I want to have my application mounted on Windows XP, and just be able to exchange information through ASP pages, to update my inventory and stuff like that, be able to consult my database also on my PC.

Thanks for replying so fast. If you can help me , I'll be very grateful.

The best option is to install a Wireless Access Point on your network and connect the Pocket PC to it through a standard wireless connection. Then you should be able to see your server by IP Address and browse pages from it, including ASP scripts.

The thing is, that part of the requirements for my thesis, is the lack of an access point, so my PCMCIA ( wireless card) for my Laptop ( wich I mean to set up as a server to run ASP pages.

The purpose for this is to bring prices down a bit, and to configure my wireless card to send and receive data from the pda, any good ideas for this?.

The professor who's evaluating my work told me to find out how to do this, it's kind of the basis of my project.

Thanks a lot
Pablo
