Hi,

I have a desktop using ADSL connection. It's using Win XP SP2. Connects to PAN using an usb Bluetooth dongle.

Here's the setup of my desktop:

Desktop's IP : 192.168.1.2
Ethernet ADSL Router's IP : 192.168.1.1
PAN IP : 192.168.0.1

I want to share internet connection to my laptop. It's running Win XP SP1.

Here's the setup of my laptop:

PAN IP : 192.168.0.2

The desktop can ping the laptop (192.168.0.2) and vice versa, so i suppose the PAN network is working fine. But how do I let the laptop share the desktop's Internet connection wirelessly using the BT network?

You probably want to bridge the Bluetooth and the ADSL connections on your computer to allow the sharing.

"How to install and configure Bluetooth devices in Windows XP Service Pack 2"
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;883259
says, inter alia:

"Note When both PAN devices in a connection are Windows XP-based computers, the connection is a point-to-point connection, and you cannot use one computer to act as a router to a local area network (LAN) or to the Internet. To do this, you need a network access point (NAP)."

you mean i can't share my internet access from the desktop to my notebook with bluetooth? I'll need to invest in a network access point?

Yes, lapimate is corect. This is the case if both computers are using the same Windows XP SP2 Bluetooth software. This software can only be a client on a PAN. If one of the computers is running the Widcomm software then it can work.

Mind you, the Widcomm software is licensed to each manufacturer, so you can only use the one distributed with the Bluetooth hardware. Any other software downloaded from any other source will not work (not without some modifications that would at the end infringe licenses).
