Hi Peoples,

I've been having a couple of weird problems with my router ever since the big outage on Xnet on Monday or Tuesday night (I cant remember which). Basically I have 2 computers hooked up to my router via a switch, and both of these I wanted external access to (ssh into the linux box, rdp into my windows machine) so I set them both up with static ip's in the dhcp config on my router. Things have been working fine for about a month with no issues at all.

Now for some reason the dhcp server doesnt seem to be working properly. My windows machine tells me it's unable to aquire a network address and wont connect to the router at all unless I set the IP in the connection configuration on the machine to match the one on the router. The linux box just has to be restarted and then it works. I booted up my laptop which has no static ip configurations on it and it works with no hassles.

In the end the only way to get it to work was to restore the router to the default settings. Then I tried to set it all up again and most of it worked, except for the DynDNS stuff, which I really needed, so I took a giant leap of faith and restored the settings from what they were before restoring the defaults. Everything worked for a few hours but when I got up this morning the same thing had happened and again I had to restore default settings then restore the backup settings. I think the dhcp server just isnt working properly and I dont know why cause I havent changed anything.

Sorry for the long post but I wanted to be sure I gave everyone who might be able to help all the info I could.

Any ideas why the dhcp server would randomly stop handing out the IP addresses to the machines I set up static IP's for? I really dont want to lose my remote access to the machine.
