I've read the BT setup article on this site and can't for the life of me figure this &^%$ out. Forgive me for the lengthly post, but I'm at my wits end. I originally thought I had a problem with AOL(previous post), but have been told by a few sources that by using PPPpro I should be able to work around that issue. I just need a little customized clarification. (That's a fancy way of saying I have no idea what I'm doing at this point). IF somebody could explain to me what is happening here, or even an idea I would be eternaly grateful. My wife would be also, as she has gone to bed alone for 3 nights so far. (Not a good thing for me).
PROBLEMS:
>Whenever I try to ping an external address, such as www.wired.com, as mentioned in the tutorial, I get a timeout (0x1212).
> Using WEBPRO results in an error message "communications error. please check coverage, check that the host address in preferences is correct and try again". No matter what I place in host address, I get the same message.
This is what I see when I click on my "Network Connections".
**Desktop runs XP with a AOL DSL internet connection (Local Area Connection 1), enabled, shared, firewalled.
>Internet connection sharing= YES (NOTE: no drop-down menu allowing any choices as described in tutorial. Only box is checked)
>TCP/IP settings= Obtain IP address automatically= YES, obtain DNS server address automatically= YES, "Alternate Config" tab shows Automatic private IP address= YES
**Bluetooth network adapter
>TCP/IP settings= IP address 192.168.0.1, MASK 255.255.255.0, default gateway and dns settings are left blank.
*HAve additional NIC installed from a previously installed network/internet sharing, but is currently "DISABLED" (Local Area Connection 2) as I don't have that other pc connected anymore.
>TCP/IP settings= IP address 192.168.0.3, MASK 255.255.255.0

I can successfully PING any of these addresses, from palm, or from pc.
QUESTION? when I look at network log on palm I see the local IP 192.168.0.2, and DNS addresses 192.168.0.1, HOWEVER no matter what I do I always see gateway address as 0.0.0.0...is this normal? I also have posted the actual data that shows from the scrpt at the end of this message if it helps clarify anything.
Also see IPCP UP & LCP UP. So I'm understanding that something here is successful. Why can't I get OUT of my local network? I know I can access the network because of the balloon message that appears.
