I spotted an HBH-35 on trademe for $240 so I grabbed it, looks like the guy gets them sent over from HongKong or somewhere, I figured it was likely going to be a bit cheaper than the retail price seeing as the -30 is $300 fron sonystyle.
That was a good spot. I see there are a couple of HBH-60 there now. I have an old Ericsson HBH-20, but it doesn't work with my Nokia 3650. I've tested the Jabra BT200, and I'm waiting for the new firmware to arrive so I can use it with this mobile.
Just got confitmation from the seller it is coming from HongKong. I'm pairing it with a T610 which seems a little fussy bluetooth wise so far (still can't get my iPAQ to use it for GPRS connections), so I might be seeing if anyone around town does firmware upgrades I think next week as I read on myt610.com that there are upgrades available.
Got my HBH-35 must say its a nice little unit though so far it does seem to suffer from some quite bad echo on the other end of the line, I assume this is the mic picking up the speaker on the unit, even with the volume turned right down its still noticable.
When you reviewed the Jabra did anyone complain of any echo ? I would expect becuase of their "ear bud" setup that may be much less prone to echo becuase of the design of their ear piece.
There are other threads guessing the echo may be caused by the loud audio from earpiece and the high sensitivity of mike; however, that doesn't make sense. Headset's mike employs a very good noise reduction technology to filter background noise.
I have the HBH-35 with the Nokia 3650 and never experience an echo.
The static is a separate issue the earlier T610's (week 22 and earlier) did have a problem with static this was fixed in week 23+ models and the latest firmware I believe improved further on it, static is absolutely not an issue for me at all, i've read quite a few reports of people getting the handset static in their BT headset on these earlier models/firmware.
The probelm is definately the mic picking up the headphone, a bit of testing today has confirmed this, the lower the earpiece volume the less echo the caller hears .. and the harder it is for me to hear them too lol ;)
"......I have the HBH-35 with the Nokia 3650 and never experience an echo......."
Your HBH-35 may also sit nicer in your ear than mine does, I have small ears. Try your headset at full volume and see if theres no echo on the other end, I'd actually be a little surprised if there wasnt.
Just to make sure I called up a friend who has the HBH-35 with his SE P800. He's never experienced any echo or static, excepting when sometimes moving out of range from the phone.
I also connected the headset with my pc and ran yahoo messenger's audio wizard. Even at full volume on the headset and mike volume set to high levels, no feedback was detected. It wasn't too pleasant on my ears!
I've been extremely pleased with the headset for my 3650. In fact, its audio is preferred over the handset with many callers not able to tell that I'm on a mobile.
Perhaps the headset is defective?? I'd recommend getting an exchange from your retail just to be sure.
