I've installed a MS BT doggle and hotsyncing with my Palm TT is working fine. I was thinking that it would be cool to be able to initiate a hotsync from the desktop so if I'm at my computer I don't have to go find my TT dig it out and start the hotsync.
Anyone know how. You should be able to do it with any software that allows u to initaite a hotsync from the desktop.
Thanks
Dalph

Hey, Dalph... Thanks from our users for the "greatest minds on the internet"... I didn't put anything here waiting for someone else to give it a shot.

I don't think there's a way to initiate the Hotsync from the computer. When I first read about Bluetooth (and I can give references and some books I bought last year still giving this wrong impression) I thought "wow, this is cool. One device will sense the other (like the force ) and start doing these magic things".

In real life we learn that batteries are a problem. Devices would have to have the radio powered on all the time, and that'll drain power. Even for Bluetooth this would be the end of the line.
Then we learn that developers and products manufacturers didn't buy this idea. Their software do not provide this functionality. A few third party do it. Look at High Point for a semi-solution for Pocket PC: this program will wake up every x minutes, look for another Bluetooth device around, identify it and start sync if ok.

My idea was to enter the data on my phone from a call I've just received, have this synchronised with my Palm or Pocket PC as soon I hit the save button, and when I get home the PDA would send this to my dekstop - everything automagically.

Sorry, this doesn't work , but whoever comes with this ready to use will sell at least one - to me...

By the way, all this and still can't start the Hotsync via Bluetooth from the desktop...

Ok, I had an idea. Actually everyone complains about the Nokia 3650 - you have to initiate the connection from the desktop, but the mobile phone disconnects and "call back".

Well, some software on the Palm could be monitoring the incoming Bluetooth port, and from a PC the user just have to start a program to "call" the Palm. The program can even have a scheduler.

As soon as the program on the Palm receives the call, it'd disconnect, and programatically start Hotsync from the Palm.

Hello programmers, can anyone do this?
