I was just wondering about how to get internet to a wired network only device in my room when the router is at the other end of the house and was wondering if I could bridge the wireless and wired network connection on my laptop, connect to my wireless network and connect the device to my laptops Ethernet port.

The two question I had were:
- Will the laptop still have internet and network access as per usual while the other device is connected
- Is there anything else you could suggest that would allow the device to get internet from the wireless connection to an ethernet port eg a device that can take a wireless g network signal and output it to a ethernet connected device.

Thanks in advance

Just had a look at Windows Vista - you highlight the two network connections in your network connections control panel, right click and choose bridge.

The laptop will still have internet connectivity.

If you don't have a network switch, you will need a crossover cable (or converter) - otherwise your device won't be able to communicate with your laptop.

To answer your other question - there are network devices that will bridge wireless and an ethernet device for precisely this purpose, but they have proven to be expensive in the past.
