I red with interest the previous thread about installing a bluetooth device with XP SP2, and also the article "Bluetooth ActiveSync Guide for Windows XP Service Pack 2" at http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=3163#comments
but the pbm is, when I reach the step "unplug the bluetooth device and plug it back in", Windows does not recognise there's a new device (doesn't look for driver either of course). During all the instalation procedure I've tried, the pbm always is the same, I get messages asking me to plug in the dongle even though it's already in, and I can never complete the installation, as the installation programme ends up sayin, no "bluetooth device detected". I've tried to get Windows to detect it, tried to find it in a list of devices (it's never listed), tried to install a new COM Port, still doesn't work.
Of course, the first thing I did was to install the software that came with the device, same pbm of "no detection"). This device worked fine with Win 2000 by the way.
Can you help please? I'm desperate.
PS Although I hate SP2 for all the pbms it's causing me with my bluetooth and other things(IE 6 doesn't work properly any more), I'd like a solution that doesn't include going back... nor changing computers :-)
