Hi I am having a problem with my compaq bluetooth module which uses a CSR chipset. It works with HP's latest software in everyway apart passing sound to bluetooth headsets. The headset connects fine and the sound controls are changed over to bluetooth but no sound is passed over. I have tried the same headset with a D-Link DBT120 module and that works fine. K have seen it suggested that it may be an issue with the firmware version and that TDK devices use the same chipset. I have upgraded the firmware using the TDK tool which was succesful and is now detected as a TDK bluetooth module. Now if I use the TDK or Compaq driver with either the TDK or Compaq version of the Widcomm software it asks for a license. I have checked that it is using the correct driver and not the microsoft one as suggested by many people but it is using the correct driver. I have also tried editing the BTSEC.dll file with a hex editor as suggested by other threads, but it still doesn't work.
Please help if you can as Compaq/HP are of no use at all and CSR cannot help as they simply pass the chip onto Compaq/HP and cannot provide any firmware.
If I cannot sort this soon I will buy a D-Link USB Bluetooth dongle and the Compaq one will meet my hammer, as this seems the last resort. HELP

If the adapter is now recognised as a TDK device you will not be able to use the TDK driver - its MAC address will not be a valid TDK address, hence the request for a licence.

If you use the Microsoft software, then it does not support the headset profile.

You are stuck with using the Microsoft software now, unless you use some modified install and configuration files. We don't have this information here.

Hi
Thanks for the super quick reply.
Does this mean that I will be unable to use the Compaq Driver and Software which is the latest version available from them.

If it looks for a specific firmware, then you probably won't be able to use. If it only checks the MAC address, it should work ok.

The only way to find out is testing. You can create a restore point on your system before installing the driver, and rollback the changes if it does't work.
