Help.,

I got a new N 3230. I got a bluetooth dongle along with it. The CD shipped was an IVT BlueSoleil Driver.

I had an AthlonXP with WinXP SP2 and all the patches installed. When I installed the IVT Driver., windows refused to recognise the Dongle.

I searched net and came across Jon's GUIDES and tried to install WIDCOMM Drivers (PATCHED Ones) and again Windows refused to detect my Dongle.

My Dongle was recognised neatly by the same IVT driver @ my friends PC's.
My USB adaptor is also fine., as i have my NOMAD using the USB.

So., i concluded that IVT conflicts with the MS's Bluetooth stack and so I formatted my PC and reloaded XP again. Now my XP is an plain XP and no service packs.

Still after installing IVT or WIDCOMM drivers., my dongle is not recognised.

Please advise me., what to do., beyond this point.

Thanks in Advance !!!

Welcome to Geekzone!

It sounds like either you adapters is connected to a USB HUB without enough power, or the USB port you are using is faulty. There is also the possibility that you are using an old VIA motherboard, which had lots of USB problems in old versions.

Make sure you reapply Service Pack 2 and all new patches on your system, due to security risks!

Greetings freitasm [admin]

My PC is an ATHLON based PC with ASUS a7n266 Motherboard.

The USB Port is fine., it works well with my digital Camera and my NOMAD.

As for the Bluetooth Dongle., it works well in friend's PC without any FUSS. In fact he has only XP and not even any Service Packs Installed.

Help Me any1;

Check that your computer is not turning the power off on USB ports.

Open the Computer Settings (Start | Control Panel | System). Click Hardware | [Device Manager], scroll to Universal Serial Bus and open the properties for each USB Root HUB in the system. Change to Power Management:

The steps for power control are for the USB controller, not for the dongle.

In any case, is this CD with BlueSoleil the original software for this adapter? It does sound like either your computer USB is not working well or the software is not the original one.

You shouldn't have installed any other drivers - they may not be designed for your specific device, and be a little bit complicated to remove - unless you have a restore point.

Do yourself a favour: return this adapter and purchase another one, from Bluetake, TDK or Belkin.

As I said before the drivers are specific to that specific hardware. Sending what I have here will not help and make things more complicated. As I said, remove the software you have there and install the original ones.

Installing patched drivers is not a good solution - and doing this may have been the cause of the whole problem.

Hello.,

There seems to be a solution for this.
Even though my other USB devices work fine. My friends say that the problem lies within the USB port.
So I have deceided to change the USB and make it work.
By the time., plz let me know ur comments.

I can't comment anymore. My first reply was a question about the USB port and you said this:
csshyamsundar: The USB Port is fine., it works well with my digital Camera and my NOMAD.
I think you should really read the whole thread again. The answer is certainly somewhere here, but you can check with your friends.

Greetings 'freitasm'

Still my 'NOMAD' and DigiCAM work well with my current USB Port.
My USB Dongle vendor says, the problem lies with AMD based Motherboards.
So Im off to buy a new PCIMA based USB Dongle.

Thank You !!!till My Digicam and NOMAD work well in
