I've got a weird problem please someone help me troubleshoot. Googling didnt get me very far:

Sony Vaio laptop running windows 7 ultimate x64.
unable to connect with my desktop running windows 7 ultimate x64.
the desktop can connect to the laptop.

All on same workgroup - check
Computer visible in Vaio's "network computers" - check
Ping computer by name - YES it CAN!
but when i double click on the computer which is visible in the network computer - "error 0x80070035" "network path not found"

Enabled and started on both computers:

NO firewall.
File sharing, all the settings correct.
Both have same user names and passwords just in case.
Computer browser, DHCP client, DNS client, server, TCP/IP netbios helper, workstation.
IP4 enable netbios over tcp/ip - makes no difference.

PS - i tried using 'homegroup' everything setup fine but still the same result.
i dont understand the ipconfig results but perhaps that could be useful?

I doubt anyone can solve it (tried clean reinstall on another partition and things worked fine, but i wanted to keep this one) :(

Hmm you doubt anyone can solve it?...

Have you tried another OS connecting to it? Perhaps a friend or workmate has an XP laptop you could test the access with. Have you tried going Start > run > \\ as it could be a dns issue... ?

You can also try things like wireshark pro. If you install that on the dekstop and configure it to monitor traffic coming from a particular host (in this case the IP address of your laptop) then you can even see if requests are actually getting to the desktop or not.

You are not running norton 360 by chance? Is windows defender service disabled?

Also, have you tried having both PCs in safe mode with network support and then trying it?

Even though it is old school, you could try putting an entry in your host file on the respective PCs, then try going start > run > \\

Interested to see how that goes for you :-)
