Hi fello geeko's Is there much difference between the Linksys AG241 and the more fancy looking ag310 firewall wise? The ag310's have a pretty good resale value on trademe whereas I think I could pick up a 241 for a fraction of the price.
Im not after features such as VNP, just a fair priced linksys 4 port switch plus fast firewall/modem
AG241 stock firmware sucks the kumra. We had a few of these around managed to replace most of them with draytek. AG241 has unofficial firmware which helps some.
Things I've noticed about the AG241 (with stock firmware): Cant handle much in the way of QoS once its enabled if you have many machines connected to the AG241 it can get overwhelmed and slow the connection down.
Sometimes it just will not connect to the internet and needs to be hard power cycled (restarting in router web GUI isnt enough).
I ran the AG241 with this firmware and it was much better: http://www.hacknpatch.co.uk/
I believe openwrt may work on the AG241 now if so then I would flash it with that.
