Hi Guys,

I assisted a mate with trying to forward port 5900 on his router to one of his Desktop PC's. It works in that from my house I can connect to his Desktop with realVNC etc, no prob.

What doesnt work is when he tries to connect to his desktop from his laptop from within his LAN using his real world IP (internal Lan IP DOES work).

The fact  that WAN IP doesnt work and LAN IP does to me suggests that the problem lies within the router config (and also that when his software firewall on Desktop PC is turned off the problem remains).

The router is one of those Dlink 502G's or similar. I found that there were a bunch of filters, which I have never had much to do with, but they look like rules for allowing/disallowing certain traffic.

I deleted them all,Saved Config and Rebooted router, but problem still remains.

Anyone have any other ideas? I was thinking of doing a full HW reset on router.

Cheers

-Al

PS: Its also worth noting that the same laptop which doesnt work with the WAN IP from within the LAN does work with the WAN IP from my router. It just doesnt work from within his own LAN.
