Hi!

I moved into a new flat the other day, which has broadband, but only a single pc modem, so I went and bought a Wireless Router.

I have set one up for my parents, but i've had a brain fade and cant remember how I did it!?

Can I set this wireless router up without knowing the username/password for the exisiting internet connection?

I pluged the modem into the router, and the router into my laptop, logged in on 196.168.1.1 (router), and entered a network name and password, thinking that was all i needed to do, but it doesnt seem to be working... My laptop is picking up the wireless signal, but it wont connect..

Can someone recommend a guide?  I would like to be able to configure this router to my laptop without losing any ability to connect to other wireless signals (parents, sisters place etc).

Or do I need to know the Username/Password for the internet connection? (current owner/flatmate says his previous flatemate didn't need his username/pass though, when he had a wireless router).

any suggestions would be awesome!!
