I'm trying to get my Panasonic bluray player hooked up to the internet.
I have a Linksys WAG200G as my modem/router.
I purchased a Linksys WRT54G2 router, hoping I could get it to access the internet wirelessly, via the WAG200G.
I am presuming first I need to configure the WRT to connect wirelessly to the WAG and secondly cable the bluray player to the WRT and permit the bluray to access the router, which in turn would mean the bluray can access the WAg and the internet?

I'm failing at the first post. I suspect the WRT needs to work in some kind of bridging mode? but I'm not sure where that happens.
any pointers greatly appreciated! Theo.

I don't think the WAG200G supports PPPoA half bridging so I would recommend you connect/configure the WAG200G and WRT54G2 in what is called WAN bypasss mode.

This means the WAG200g handles most of the work (NAT, routing and giving out ip addresses) and the WRT54G2 just acts as a "dumb" switch and wireless access point.

See if you can find a way to peer both routers, although they seem to be designed for peering as an access point would have been. The WAG200G is an ADSL-to-wifi router, while your WRT54G2 appears to be an Ethernet-to-wifi router (both of them designed primarily to stand alone as the main gateway). You didnt say why an ethernet cable wasnt hooked up, so i presume you cant run network cables around the house.

I couldnt find any option on the userguide to set the WRT54G2 to peer with adhoc or infrastructure modes, but some wifi routers might be able to setup as a WDS bridge. Havent tried that, but it might work if both routers have the same option. Be careful to put enough security on it.

Time to find a new industry!

Yeah I didn't read that part correctly.

I don't think the WRT54G2 will do the wireless client bridged mode you need without 3rd party firmware (might be wrong).

If possible connect the WAG200G and the WRT54G2 via ethernet cable. If that's not an option you could look at home plug ethernet over power adapaters.

.. but they are quite pricy.

the cable run from bluray to WAG200G would be 15 to 20 metres- maybe this makes it an easier option? (apart from the bit where i crawl under the house!
