Hi, am after any recommendations for voice mail software, nothing flash just for a very small office that wants something a little more flexible than a machine, would be good if it could email messages, there are a few out there but no idea if they are good bad or ugly.

Cheers
Cyril

The problem with voice mail software on a PC is that only one incoming call is taken... What about a voice mail service from their telco services provider?

Hi, yes I have been through that with the client, but he is not interested in the Telecom voice service, which I find hard to accept myself as I have found it very good and as you say takes the call when all the lines are full.

Asterisk running on a small mini ITX machine would do the trick fine. The problem is interfacing it - you'd then start looking at just moving all the phones onto Asterisk.

Setup a 2Talk account, and change the POTS line to forward to that when it's busy or unanswered.

And wait for your client complaining about paying mobile prices per minute on all those diverted calls. Then explain to your client how this all could be avoided...
