In the manual for my MSI Dongle it makes reference to an advanced tab for the device driver which can be used to alter the power settings of the dongle. It also says that the advanced settings are only available in certain countries.

Does anyone get this extra tab? and if so what country are you in and where did you get the drivers from?

Same for other dongles. I have a TDK and a Bluetake and don't have the extra settings. I think it's not available in New Zealand or Australia.

Look at my comments toward bottom of thread on generic Widcomm docos:

Widcomm Documentation

I'll bet that one of its licensed partners must include in order to comply with some statutory requirement??

I have the same notation in 1.4.1.6 docs and 1.4.2.10. Belkin and D-Link do not have this option in US at least on my devices.

I think that changing the power settings doesn't actually change the range of the device. This is more related to the dBm output or something like this.
